If you didn't already know, Rio de Janiero bred singer and songwriter Érica Alves is in love with synthesizers. It all started as a love affair with lo-fi pop at age 12, which has since evolved into a musical journey that dives into indie rock and psych-pop, all of which are glaringly apparent on her current solo project.
There's no doubt; the worlds of synth-pop and synthesizers were made for her. And though she has been a band member of The Drone Lovers and BAPHYPHYNA, these days she's highly entrenched in exploring her own wave of sounds. Less than two months ago, Érica participated in a program presented by Red Bull Studios Sao Paulo, entitled PULSO, which saw hometown independent music heroes occupy Red Bull Station for a month of discourse and music experimentation.
Now, as one of 61 artists to participate in this year's Red Bull Music Academy, to be held between October 25 and November 27 in Paris, Érica will take her unique mixing style and striking voice to the big stage fow a few live performances.
But before we saw her head off to Paris, we asked her to perform one more time, exclusively for "Stripped Sessions" and we won twice. Watch Érica perform "Better For Us All" (above) and "Beautiful" (below).
