Dope Saint Jude

Dope Saint Jude

The past few months has seen Dope Saint Jude explode into the international arena when the video for Keep In Touch was featured on Afropunk. Featuring producer, rapper and artist ANGEL-HO (who himself has recently blown up online with a feature in Fader), the video has subsequently been featured on a range of local websites and blogs such as 10and5 and Elle Magazine.

Touting her lyrical style as, "catchy, clever wordplay that both parodies and parades positions of power" Afropunk's love of the track is a testament to St. Jude's hard-work in crafting a sound that manages to have its roots firmly planted in the world of Cape Town hip-hop, but takes a dollop of inspiration from the wild styles of Night-Slugs-esque bass music and its love affair with voguing and ballroom.

These four tracks recorded at the Red Bull Studios Cape Town showcase St. Jude at a point where she is at the beginning of what could be a new movement in the local hip-hop and bass music scene and judging by her and ANGEL-HO's recent international appeal, could become part of a global movement.
