On Friday 18 October, things fall into place as David Dallas delivers his box-fresh third solo LP, an album that confirms his status as the preeminent voice of New Zealand hip hop. Two days before the release of Falling Into Place, he performed an intimate showcase at Red Bull Studio where some of the album’s biggest tracks came together. In attendance: 40 fans who will get an exclusive first-look as Dallas runs through a clutch of new songs. Check out all of the photos from the night on the Red Bull Studio Auckland facebook page.
One of those handpicked selections will undoubtedly be Runnin’, the Fire & Ice-produced single that has already made noise internationally after it was chosen by gaming giant EA Sports to announce their latest blockbuster, Madden NFL 25. As Dallas explains, it’s a track that had its genesis in the studio where he’ll perform on Wednesday 16 October.
“It was basically me, the two beatmakers from Fire & Ice and the engineer, Ben Lawson, listening to the Runnin’ beat at Red Bull Studio,” says Dallas. “After about 20 minutes, I went straight into the booth and did my verse.
From the moment I got it done, I was like, ‘Yo, we’ve got something here!’”
